AEROSMITH Frontman Sings With 10-Year-Old Cancer Patient
Monday, 23 April 2012 17:41According to WPRI.com, a 10-year-old Rhode Island boy with a brain tumor recently was able to Skype with his hero, AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler.
In late January, Cole Grace was hospitalized with a brain tumor diagnosis that was soon identified as a Grade IV Glioblastoma, and has since had three brain surgeries.
While in the hospital, Cole and Steven had a long conversation and sang AEROSMITH's "Walk This Way" together.
Steven, who is one of the judges on Fox's singing competition "American Idol", also mentioned Cole during one of the show's nationally-televised episodes a few weeks ago.

During an interview with Brazil's Multishow after SYSTEM OF A DOWN's performance at the Rock In Rio festival last October in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, the band's drummer, John Dolmayan, was asked if SOAD fans can expect to hear a new studio album from the group following its current reunion tour. "We're gonna take it day by day," he said. "For the people who are waiting for an album — I know there's a lot of people waiting for an album; I'm waiting for an album just like they are. It's gonna happen when it's right and when we can make something that tops what we've done in the past. Because we don't really wanna rest on our laurels — where what you've done in the past is what you depend on. Well, I don't wanna do that, and I know the rest of the guys don't wanna do that. Instead of resting on our laurels, we wanna throw them away and create something new and specific for this generation that they can say that's their SYSTEM OF A DOWN."
Dolmayan previously told Straight.com about SYSTEM OF A DOWN's five-year hiatus, "I personally don't like breaks — I like to continue playing. But it was nice to go off and be John Dolmayan, as opposed to John from SYSTEM, for a while. I think everybody had similar feelings."
The drummer explained that a desire to pull off the road for a while and reconnect with their lives is what led SYSTEM to take an extended vacation from each other, saying, "When you're on the road and in the studio all the time, it's kind of like traveling at light speed. When you come back, it's like 20 years have passed by, and you're only one or two hours older . . . You're living a nomadic life, and you lose touch with people because they have grown away from you. People get older, get married, die — life is still going on."
SYSTEM's last two albums, "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize", were released in 2005.
DEFTONES has entered the studio to begin recording its seventh album for a late 2012 release.
2010's "Diamond Eyes" has been one of DEFTONES' most successful outings. The set's last single, "You've Seen The Butcher", was a Top 15 rock radio hit.
DEFTONES will once again record with Sergio Vega on bass. Vega stepped in for touring purposes after original bassist Chi Cheng was left in a semi-comatose state by a November 2008 car accident, and stayed on to record "Diamond Eyes" with the group.
Last October, Reprise Records released a limited-edition vinyl box set from DEFTONES. "Deftones: The Vinyl Collection, 1995 - 2011" is a seven-album (8 LP) retrospective containing the band's six studio albums — 1995's "Adrenaline", 1997's "Around The Fur", 2000's "White Pony", 2003's "Deftones", 2006's "Saturday Night Wrist", and 2010's "Diamond Eyes", and the limited-edition 2011 Record Store Day release "Covers". Each album was exclusively re-cut for vinyl from the original master recordings and pressed on 180-gram European virgin vinyl. The collection, which included a unique lithograph and cover art, came packaged in a hand-numbered collector's box pressing of 1,000 copies worldwide.

"Wherever I Go", a new song from BUCKCHERRY will appear on the upcoming soundtrack to this year's highly anticipated movie, "Marvel's The Avengers". "Wherever I Go" is included on "Avengers Assemble", a 14-track compilation of music from and inspired by the film. "Avengers Assemble" will be released on May 1.
Says the band: "The song was written specifically for the film, and was recorded during the sessions for our upcoming album. Check it out and hope you dig it!"
"The Avengers" original motion picture soundtrack, with score by Oscar-nominated and Grammy-winning composer Alan Silvestri ("Captain America: The First Avenger", "Forrest Gump", the "Back To The Future" trilogy) will be available at online retailers on May 1.
In addition to BUCKCHERRY's "Wherever I Go", the "Avengers Assemble" collection features original songs inspired by the exciting and action-packed film event. The diverse range of artists includes SOUNDGARDEN, RISE AGAINST, SHINEDOWN, BUSH and REDLIGHT KING.
BUCKCHERRY is currently in the midst of recording its sixth studio album and has posted two video diaries online that allow fans a glimpse into the group's creative process. According to The Pulse Of Radio, the first video shows the band in the early stages of pre-production as they play the songs over and over in order to fine-tune them. In the second clip, called "Envy", dissatisfaction over a song with that name leads to visible tension and frustration in the studio as the band tries to make the song work.
Singer Josh Todd tells the camera at one point, "There is always a song during our record making process that is a thorn in our side."
When the group finally gets "Envy" to where they want it, Todd later says, "We hated this song for a while, now it's fun."
Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson are the band's original members and have been working together for 17 years, but Todd told The Pulse Of Radio they still occasionally butt heads while making a record. "It's not like what people would think, you know," he said. "We're not like, we don't have to have like a shrink come in and talk to us, or we don't need a mediator in the studio to get through writing a song. But yeah, you know, occasionally we'll butt heads on like an issue, but it's like we work stuff out so quickly. You know, Keith and I and everybody in BUCKCHERRY, we're all focused on the outcome, which is we're just trying to make the song the best it can be."
BUCKCHERRY's new album will follow up 2010's "All Night Long" and is said to possibly be a concept record.
PANTERA: 'Piss' Single Artwork Unveiled
Monday, 09 April 2012 16:51While combing the PANTERA vaults for the 20th anniversary reissue of "Vulgar Display Of Power", drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott made an astounding discovery: "Piss", an incendiary blast of vintage PANTERA from the original recording sessions that had long been forgotten. After 20 years, "Piss" will finally make its debut this Wednesday, April 11, when the newly created video for the song will premiere at the Revolver Golden Gods awards in Los Angeles, which will be broadcast live on Xbox Live, as well as on the Xbox and Revolver Facebook pages. The video will make its worldwide premiere right before the show starts at approximately 10:55 p.m. ET / 7:55 p.m. PT. The song will then be released to radio outlets and all digital music retailers the following day. PANTERA are also the subject of a Revolver special issue, which hits newsstands everywhere on April 15.
For the "Piss" video, PANTERA put out a call through their Facebook page for fans to submit home videos of them rocking out to the band or attend a video shoot in Los Angeles. The resulting video is an amazing collection of fans of all ages, from around the world, moshing, jumping, punching, kicking, and just plain rocking out to PANTERA. The video, directed by Zach Merck, also features some amazing slow-motion shots that recreate the face punch from the iconic cover of "Vulgar Display Of Power".
"'Piss' is the only unheard complete PANTERA track in existence, "said Vinnie. "It was recorded at the same time as 'Vulgar Display Of Power' and it's 100 percent PANTERA with attitude and our signature groove! After mixing it, I can't believe it didn't make the record! So it's 2012 and 20 years later and new PANTERA music has been delivered."
In anticipation of the reissue of one of the greatest metal albums of all time, PANTERA's 1992 masterpiece "Vulgar Display Of Power", Revolver magazine has created a PANTERA special issue, which includes the whole story of the band, an in-depth look at the making of "Vulgar", fallen guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's final interview, and more.
Revolver will host a release party for the issue on April 12 at the Key Club in West Hollywood, California. Plus, cover illustrator Tim Bradstreet will be on hand to sign copies of the issue. Providing the soundtrack for the evening will be members of SLAYER, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX, ADRENALINE MOB, and some very special guests, who will all be putting on the "Metal Masters 3" clinic for musicians, presented by Samson, Zoom, and Hartke.
February 25 marked the 20-year anniversary for PANTERA's "Vulgar Display Of Power", a landmark album widely acknowledged as one of metal's most enduring and influential masterworks. Recorded by singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, the album has been certified double platinum by the RIAA and features several of the group's most iconic songs including "Walk", "Mouth For War", "This Love" and "Fucking Hostile".
To celebrate, Rhino channels the album's relentless blitzkrieg of musical aggression onto a two-disc Deluxe Edition. The CD includes the original album remastered and "Piss", a recently discovered unreleased track from the recording sessions. The DVD contains an unreleased live performance filmed in Italy in September of 1992 plus the three official music videos from the album.
Due out May 15, 2012 from Rhino, the CD/DVD set will be available at retail outlets, including Pantera.com and Rhino.com, for a suggested list price of $19.98. A version of the release will also be available digitally.
Along with the unreleased song, "Vulgar Display Of Power (Deluxe Edition)" also features unreleased video of the quartet performing six songs at the Monsters Of Rock show in Reggio Emilia, Italy on September 12, 1992. The set list draws almost exclusively from "Vulgar" ("This Love", "Rise", "Mouth For War"), but also includes the title track from their previous album, "Cowboys From Hell", and a melding of "Vulgar"'s "Hollow" and "Cowboys"' "Domination", which was a live staple of the band. Video of PANTERA performing live during this era is extremely rare, making the DVD one of the few ways to see them in their prime.

Dimebag Darrell was co-founder and lead guitarist for PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul formed DAMAGEPLAN. AXL ROSE On Possibility Of GUNS N' ROSES 'Reunion' Tour: 'Not In This Lifetime' (Video)
Sunday, 08 April 2012 19:07TMZ.com has posted video footage of GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose leaving the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, California last night (Friday, April 6) with 25-year-old singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey.
When asked by the cameraman if there is any chance of GUNS N' ROSES doing a reunion tour with the "full lineup," Axl replied, "Not in this lifetime."
Rose, drummer Steven Adler, guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, and guitarist Izzy Stradlin will all be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame next weekend in Cleveland, along with later GUNS N' ROSES members, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and drummer Matt Sorum.
As previously reported, GREEN DAY has been confirmed to induct GUNS N' ROSES into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, according to RollingStone.com. Their participation this year ends the speculation about who was going to induct GUNS, but questions still remain about which members of the band will show up for the April 14 ceremony in Cleveland. Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and Dizzy Reed will all be there, but it was reported this week that Izzy Stradlin won't attend and Axl Rose's participation is still unclear.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Slash said last week that GUNS N' ROSES will not perform at the event, and Stradlin's absence would seem to confirm that whether Rose shows up or not.
Slash told RollingStone.com earlier this week that Rose "hates my guts." The two have not performed together since 1993. Rose currently tours with a completely different version of GUNS N' ROSES featuring no original members but him.
MARILYN MANSON: 'No Reflection' Video Released
Wednesday, 04 April 2012 16:44Marilyn Manson's new video, "No Reflection", can be seen below. The clip was directed by Lukas Ettlin, who previously worked with Manson on the award-winning "Personal Jesus" video.
"No Reflection" will be released as a white seven-inch vinyl in Europe on April 21. The vinyl will be strictly limited to 1500 copies and will feature "No Reflection" (album version) and "No Reflection" (single edit). The release is in support of Record Store Day.
About Record Store Day: Record Store Day is managed by the Music Monitor Network and is organized in partnership with the Alliance Of Independent Media Stores (AIMS), the Coalition Of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) and celebrates the culture of independent record stores by playing host to in-store events/performances, signings and special product releases on a global scale.
Record Store Day takes place annually on the third Saturday of April.
MARILYN MANSON will release his long-awaited new album, "Born Villain", on May 1 (one day earlier internationally) via Cooking Vinyl and Manson's own label Hell, Etc.
The track listing for the CD is as follows:
01. Hey Cruel World…
02. No Reflection
03. Pistol Whipped
04. Overneath The Path Of Misery
05. Slo Mo Tion
06. The Gardener
07. The Flowers Of Evil
08. Children Of Cain
09. Disengaged
10. Lay Down Your Goddamn Arms
11. Murders Are Getting Prettier Every Day
12. Born Villain
13. Breaking The Same Old Ground
Check out the front and back cover artwork below.
"No Reflection" was premiered on March 7 on the Los Angeles radio station KROQ and was made available exclusively on iTunes on March 13.
"The new record put simply has the ambition and determination of how I started making music in the first place," Manson says. "It sounds like the first record in that it's not afraid to do anything. I had to remove myself from my lifestyle and start fresh."
In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, Manson stated about his new CD, "It doesn't really sound like any of my old records. In fact it sort of sounds like what I listened to before I made records — KILLING JOKE, JOY DIVISION, REVOLTING COCKS, BAUHAUS, BIRTHDAY PARTY … It's very rhythm-driven. It's actually very bluesy. It's the first record where I repeat verses. I just sign the words in a different key, the next time. I've never done that before, because I've always felt like I needed to write a lot of words in the past … I think this will probably be the grandest concept record of all."
Manson's U.S. theater tour is scheduled to kick off April 27.
The singer last September unveiled a new music video for the song "Born Villain" directed by actor Shia LaBeouf.
Drummer Ginger Fish (real name: Kenneth Robert Wilson) quit MARILYN MANSON in February 2011 and has since joined ROB ZOMBIE. He has been replaced by the Los Angeles-based drummer Jason Sutter.
MARILYN MANSON in 2009 parted ways with longtime record label Interscope following the disappointing sales performance of "The High End Of Low".
When asked what the problem was with Interscope, Manson told Revolver magazine, "They don't care about music. They never did. I mean, Jimmy Iovine [Chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M] used to, when he produced records a long time ago. They care about Vitamin Water... And when you've got so much money, it's just about ego. I don't really care what their problem is. I was just happy to get out of there. And I have to be objective, I don't take it personally. I don't regret the records I made — I regret the way they treated them. I think I made great records, and they tried to dilute the very essence of what they signed me for. 'Don't be so offensive' — what the fuck does that mean? 'Don't be what we signed you for. Don't be what you are.'"
He added, "I would say after 'Antichrist Superstar'... It was a pressure that everyone's on your back, flashing cameras and suggestions and publicists, saying, 'Oh, you've gotta do this, or you're not going to be successful!' You almost start to question what you do and why you do it, and that will lead to you losing your identity. And that's something no one can fix, no psychiatrist, no legal team, no scientists, no anything. You just have to really strip it down and go back to the basics. the bigger picture is that I can't really consider myself simply a musician, with my painting and everything visual. It's always been a big struggle. From the beginning, the question was, 'Aren't you worried that the image will overshadow the music?' I'm like, absolutely not — it's hand in hand. But then, when I became a painter, I didn't want to seem like the rock star with a hobby."
"The High End Of Low" was Manson's first album with longtime bassist Twiggy Ramirez since 2000's "Holy Wood".
KISS: Deluxe Edition Of 'Destroyer' Pushed Back To April
Thursday, 02 February 2012 19:18The release date of the deluxe 25th-anniversary edition of KISS' classic fourth album, "Destroyer", has been pushed back to April 17. The two-disc set will feature remixes of the original LP by producer Bob Ezrin, outtakes from the 1976 album sessions as well as the LP's original cover art.
Ken Kelly's original version of the album cover for "Destroyer" was rejected by the record company because they felt the scene was too violent-looking. Also, the original version had the members of KISS wearing the "Alive" costumes.
Released in March 1976, "Destroyer" was the second consecutive KISS album to reach the Top 20 in the U.S. The LP was certified gold by the RIAA on April 22, 1976. It was certified platinum on November 11, 1976, the first KISS album to achieve that distinction.
